Lorelei (Lori) Westin takes her biotechnology client’s vision and makes it reality through sound planning and strategy development. As Partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, PC, an international law firm specializing in growing entrepreneurial companies, Lori advises small and large biotechnology and medical device companies in national and international intellectual property portfolio management and technology transaction agreements.  Lori was recently named as one of the top 50 female practitioners practicing before the United States Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Lori is active in the San Diego legal community, serving as a pro tem judge for the San Diego Superior Court and volunteering in immigration court through Casa Cornelia. 

As an accomplished scientist, Lori conducted post‐doctoral research at the Karolinska Institute (Medical Nobel Institute) in Stockholm, Sweden, and the Salk Institute for Research in La Jolla, California. Lori applied her advanced molecular biology techniques at Nanogen, one of the first molecular array research technology companies in San Diego, California.  As a Senior Research Associate, Lori worked on developing DNA and infectious disease molecular assay.  Lori holds a BA in Animal Physiology from the University of California, San Diego, an MA and PhD in Biology from Boston University, and a JD (summa cum laude) from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. She has been awarded prestigious scholarships, including a Fulbright Fellow and Presidential and Regents Scholar in undergraduate and graduate school. Lori volunteers her time teaching and training future lawyers through the San Diego High School Mock Trial program.
