Maren Dougherty, President
Executive Director of Marketing & Communications, San Diego Convention Center 

  • Maren Dougherty leads public relations, marketing, and corporate communications for the San Diego Convention Center. Bringing more than 15 years of communications and marketing experience, she has held leadership positions with the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles and the Balboa Park Online Collaborative in San Diego. A graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Maren has written for publications such as Fodor’s San Diego, San Diego Magazine, and National Geographic Adventure.

Arlene Yang, Vice President
Assistant General Counsel, Center for Employment Opportunities 

  • Arlene Yang is Assistant General Counsel at Center for Employment Opportunities. She specializes in labor and employment law. She served for 3 years as president of the board of transcenDANCE. She previously spent seven years working on grant writing and development for two diverse theater companies in New York City and served as president of the board of the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company. Ms. Yang is also active in the legal community and is currently serving on the board of directors of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.

Kelsey Luu, Board Secretary
Of Counsel at Best Best & Krieger 

  • Kelsey Luu is a first-generation immigrant and attorney. Kelsey immigrated to the United States from Vietnam when she was 12 years old. While Kelsey did not know English at the time, she knew she wanted to have a better life. This drive pushed her to graduate as a class Valedictorian from high school and to pursue a law career. Since graduating from law school, Kelsey focuses her practice on defensive mortgage lending and servicing litigation in both state and federal court proceedings. Kelsey also advises institutional lenders, private investors, and mortgage servicers on residential mortgage foreclosure issues. Kelsey is currently an Of Counsel at Best Best & Krieger.

Linde Hotchkiss, Board Treasurer
Executive Vice President and Southwest Market Leader, ABD Insurance and Financial Services  

  • As Executive Vice President and Southwest Market Leader for Newfront, Linde is responsible for expanding the firm’s reach across Southern California and throughout the entire Southwest. Before joining Newfront, Linde held various leadership roles at Willis Towers Watson, including her most recent position as Western Region Leader for Large Accounts and Global Client Advocacy.

    Linde also spent over 20 years as a finance and operations executive for Marsh. Her expertise and experience spans Property & Casualty and Employee Benefits, and she is highly skilled at working with clients ranging in size from middle-market to sophisticated large group and large risk.

    Mrs. Hotchkiss serves the community on several boards including Junior Achievement (recent board chair), Safe Haven Children’s Medical Outreach, and transcenDANCE Youth Arts Project.  She is a frequent presenter on Inclusion and Diversity and was recognized by the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation as one of two North American Inclusion Champions for 2019.

Alison Aragon
Director of Development, California State University San Marcos   

  • Alison was born and raised in San Diego, where she spent her childhood playing sports and dancing to Now That’s What I Call Music! 7-9. She was a first-gen student studying politics and sociology at UC Santa Cruz, played on the Women’s Golf Team for four years, and graduated from the University of San Diego with a Master’s in Nonprofit Leadership and Management in 2017 and the Fundraising Academy in 2019. Alison is passionate about creating equitable access to education, shifting power through community philanthropy, and petting all the dogs. She has worked at various nonprofits in San Diego County, including the National Conflict Resolution Center, San Diego Foundation, Pro Kids, First Tee – San Diego, and currently serves as Director of Development on the University Advancement team at California State University San Marcos. Alison is a member of the Latina Giving Circle, North County Philanthropy Council, San Diego Women’s Foundation, active in the Community-Centric Fundraising San Diego chapter, and volunteers at Last Chance at Life All Breed Rescue and Adoption in Oceanside.

Alina Caceres
Fractional Operations Executive 

  • Alina Caceres is an experienced Operations executive, driving the alignment of people, processes, and tools to achieve organizational success. Her career has spanned specialties from accounting to sales and all levels of management, in sectors as diverse as service, healthcare, software, and transportation. Outside of work, she has poured energy into studying nutrition & wellness, elevating family-owned businesses, and supporting community youth. She is passionate about finding new ways of tackling old problems and enjoys learning from each new person she encounters. And each year of new experience (re)shapes her perspectives. In her youth, she spent afternoons and weekends in dance classes; which taught her about friendship, discipline, confidence, and artistic expression. She now serves transcenDANCE with the hope of pulling her years of experience together, and sharing lessons learned with future generations of artists.

Tonya Chavis
Sr. Director, IT Business Partner, Acadia Pharmaceuticals

  • Tonya is an Information Management Leader with extensive experience in the Biopharmaceutical industry. Core competencies include program and project management, business capability management, strategic technology planning, and business process reengineering. Proven track record in building and sustaining balanced relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure business needs are met with the appropriate technology use. Skilled in driving large scale cost savings, building strategic alliances, and enhancing team productivity and performance. Adept at leading collaborative initiatives, facilitating change, and resolving conflict. Work ethic comprised of self motivation, resiliency, accountability, flexibility, resourcefulness, commitment, and optimism.

Charlene Cornelia
Director of Evaluation & Compliance, MAAC Project 

  • Charlene is a native San Diegan and joins the board with several years in non-profit senior leadership focusing most recently on evaluating program impact and compliance strategy. She has worked with cross-functional teams to support economic development and advocate for increased access to education, health care, and social services. She grew up enjoying the performing arts and is honored to be on the board of directors for multiple local creative youth organizations like transcenDANCE.

Uzoamaka Orjiako
Associate Attorney – Larrabee Albi Coker LLP 

  • Uzoamaka Orjiako is an immigration attorney, focusing on employment-based visas and assisting clients with the employment-based permanent residency process. As daughter of immigrant parents from Nigeria, Uzoamaka has first-hand experience in the real-life impact our immigration laws and policies have on families and has a passion to advocate for the rights and opportunities of people of diverse backgrounds. Through her family’s experience with the complex immigration system, Uzoamaka has also developed a deeper understanding of the needs of others who desire to live and work in the United States. She serves to bring this unique experience to the transcenDANCE community by advocating the importance of cultural expression, creating positive change, and the power of resilience.

Lorelei Weston
Partner, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati 

  • Lorelei (Lori) Westin takes her biotechnology client’s vision and makes it reality through sound planning and strategy development. As Partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, PC, an international law firm specializing in growing entrepreneurial companies, Lori advises small and large biotechnology and medical device companies in national and international intellectual property portfolio management and technology transaction agreements.  Lori was recently named as one of the top 50 female practitioners practicing before the United States Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Lori is active in the San Diego legal community, serving as a pro tem judge for the San Diego Superior Court and volunteering in immigration court through Casa Cornelia. 

    As an accomplished scientist, Lori conducted post‐doctoral research at the Karolinska Institute (Medical Nobel Institute) in Stockholm, Sweden, and the Salk Institute for Research in La Jolla, California. Lori applied her advanced molecular biology techniques at Nanogen, one of the first molecular array research technology companies in San Diego, California.  As a Senior Research Associate, Lori worked on developing DNA and infectious disease molecular assay.  Lori holds a BA in Animal Physiology from the University of California, San Diego, an MA and PhD in Biology from Boston University, and a JD (summa cum laude) from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. She has been awarded prestigious scholarships, including a Fulbright Fellow and Presidential and Regents Scholar in undergraduate and graduate school. Lori volunteers her time teaching and training future lawyers through the San Diego High School Mock Trial program.
